Every season we get daily calls for brick repair projects. While there is a huge demand for existing hardscape corrections, it is mot a service we offer. There are several reasons we have this policy. In the past we have fixed failed jobs installed by others. With hundreds of repairs under our belt we are still amazed with what we found after digging begins. It's always a surprise. All hardscape jobs must start with a solid foundation. This can only be examined after the pavers have been removed. In addition, replacement matching pavers are often unavailable forcing us to work with exactly what is on site. Last, if the brick has been sealed, the sealant will not allow the bricks to be set in place as the spaces will be uneven. If the bricks were not sealed the hardened sand must be scraped off all sides of each brick to try to maintain even spacing. This step often requires power washing and stripping chemicals. With the unknown it is impossible to price this type of work in advance. Often the job must be completely torn out and re-built. This is no longer a repair, it's a full replacement. If we charge by time and materials a repair could cost more than a replacement. At Squeals Landscaping Inc. we provide a 10 year warranty on brick paver jobs so our customers can avoid the hassle and cost of dealing with brick repairs. We feel if it has not shifted in 10 years you are pretty safe!
